Another marathon completed and another online marathon fundraiser dead line has gone up. I was able to donate over 3,000 dollars to charity this time, and I’m just so grateful to everyone who donated to my marathon fundraising page and for all the online pledges that I received. Really, that money is going to help so many people who are struggling with cancer and will fund important cancer research.
Now, I have a couple of months before setting up my new marathon fundraiser and before I begin training for my next race. Until then, I’m thinking that I should buy a box of Twinkies and renew my movie rental membership so I can kick back and relax.
Really, I will probably set up my new marathon fundraiser next week so that I can start raising donations right away. No one said that I had to be training while I’m fundraising online. Plus, Internet fundraising doesn’t take up that much time, and I can still enjoy my movies and snacks while getting a head start on my next fundraising event.
My next marathon fundraiser will benefit a program that helps those suffering from brain tumors. Having known someone that has had a brain tumor, this is a very important marathon for me and I can’t wait to raise money online for this amazing program.
Alright, I’m going to the grocery store. Bring on the junk food.

Half Marathon: No More Tread Mills
Finally, it is getting warmer outside and I’ll no longer have to run on a treadmill for my marathon training. I hate running in a stinky gym next to a bunch of huff’n and puffers. Totally throws my concentration off. More importantly, I’m very close to reaching my fundraising goal on Crowdrise.
I’m out to raise 1500 dollars for the American Cancer Society. So while I’m packing on the miles, I’ve also been packing on the donations through my online fundraising pages. Really, raising funds online has been really easy and allowed me to focus more on training, instead of asking everyone for donations in person or sending out a bunch of individual emails. Instead I could just make a couple of posts with a link to my team member page. All they have to do is click on it and donate to charity. While I’m counting miles, the charity counts my donations and accredits it to my marathon effort.
I’m almost done typing. I just wanted to say that I also enjoy being apart of the online community there. This allows me to interact with my team members and we can compare training programs and techniques, what foods keep the energy up, and we can donate to each other’s pages to help ‘em with their fundraising effort.
Really, I’m done now. Time to eat a granola bar and run a few miles.
